Since early times, travelers were trying to systemize their ideas about directions of the motion. The highlight of this search was the Wind Rose – a figure displaying the orientation of the cardinal directions (north, south, east and west)… The Wind Rose was most widely used in Maps and Compasses. 

In our Festival, the Wind Rose chosen as emblem is the peculiar reference point into which a Man and his Soul turn.

The Soul is like a Compass, which is sending a Personality into this or that direction.

This is the man and his Soul, which is inclined to making this or that step, either good or bad, in a certain direction. The Map of Reality is ambiguous, and the Reality is applicable to changes with every single step of the Man. This is why to say that the Good is in some definite direction is absurd. So only the Way, which the Man is following, is forming the final point.

At the II Program Festival of the Ukraine YMCA (August 1-6, 2007, Verkhovyna, the Carpathians, Ivano-Frankivsk Region), we are planning to widespread the ideas of spiritual education among the participants. The emphasis will be made on the “C” in the YMCA, which will accentuate the Christian direction of the event.

Wherever you are going, you will anyway come back to the YMCA. The YMCA programs are very diverse, but we have to meditate upon the question “Where are we going?” and how should we further develop the YMCA activity.

                At the Festival main square where all the participants will be meeting, there will be a big Compass, the arrow of which will be turning on a certain corner every day and will be showing at the letters Y, M, C and A.

Every day is marked by the Theme of the Day:

Y – Youth,

M – Man,

C – Christianity,

A – Association (meaning community).

Participation fee

includes accommodation and food since August 1^st, lunch time, till August 6^th,  lunch time; transportation to/from the venue of the Festival (Verkhovina city) from Ivano-Frankivsk, participation at the workshops and seminars, sport and other events at the Festival.

Western Europe – 200 EUR for staying in the building in double-triple rooms
